I want to farm.

It’s hard to believe 9 years ago I gave up my dream of a big house, white picket fence, and a cul de sac for a simply life. Never in a million years would I have thought the girl who was afraid to touch a worm would scream with glee to find one knowing that our garden is doing what it should. Or, that my my new dream would be to have chickens and enjoy the many sounds of them. But what I never thought of most of all was how in the world I could do all this in town on 1/8 of an acre!

We raise meat birds, garden organically, raise chickens, homeschool, live simply, and spend a lot of quality time together as a family. Sure, we would love to have at least 10 acres with a ton of fruit trees, more room for our children to run, and peace and quiet from living in town, but that is not the season of our life just yet. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t find a place to start. I love watching homesteading videos on how people do it. But they all have tons of acres and maybe don’t have kids or debt, etc. Its wonderful we can look at and be encouraged by them. But what if that’s not you? What if you have kids, a mortgage, bills that keep knocking at your door to be paid? What if you love the idea of a garden but have no clue where to even start? I really want to show you and encourage you to start your your journey of farming/ homesteading anyway. You don’t need to run out and buy a farm right now! I will show you how we are making a go at it and also our failures. You know, the old saying is true….. You can do anything you set your mind to!
